Wildcard's Coffee green coffee buying policy

Sustainable and ethical coffee - our coffee buying policy

We're proud to launch our coffee buying policy.  Here it is!

At Wildcard Coffee the only lasting footprint we want to leave on the planet is the taste and experience of great coffee.

As we grow, we will measure our success against the following green coffee-buying policies:

  1. Sourcing: We will source our coffee beans directly from farmers and co-ops that use sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices, including organic farming methods, water conservation, and soil management. We will prioritise buying from farms that provide fair wages and safe working conditions for their workers.
  2. Transportation: We will choose shipping methods that minimise our carbon footprint, such as shipping by sea or land instead of air. We will also work with logistics providers that prioritize sustainability in their operations.
  3. Packaging: We will use compostable or recyclable packaging materials for our coffee and encourage our customers to compost or recycle them after use.
  4. Waste reduction: We will strive to reduce waste in our operations by minimising packaging waste, using energy-efficient equipment, and recycling and composting as much as possible.
  5. Education: We will educate our customers about sustainable coffee sourcing and the importance of environmentally friendly coffee production methods. We will also provide information on how to properly dispose of our packaging materials.
  6. Certification: We will seek out and prioritize coffee beans that have been certified as sustainably produced, such as Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, or Organic certifications.
  7. Continuous improvement: We will regularly review and evaluate our sustainable buying policies and practices to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
